Soapstone Countertops

Soapstone Countertops Louisville KYWhat are Soapstone Countertops?

Soapstone aountertops are a type of metamorphic rock composed largely of the magnesium rich mineral talc. It is produced by heat, pressure, and an influx of fluids. Depending on its geographic location it has varying amounts of other minerals such as micas, chlorite, amphiboles, quartz, magnesite and carbonates. It is a relatively soft, very dense, highly heat-resistant material.

Why Choose Soapstone Countertops?

Soapstone is a natural stone with unique characteristics. Run your hand across it to experience its signature “soapy” texture. Soapstone is not as easily available as granite and quartz, making it ideal for those who want an impeccable and exclusive product.

You’ll love that Soapstone is naturally non-porous so it does not stain, isn’t etched by citrus, wine, acids or chemicals, and isn’t harmed by a hot pot placed directly on the countertop. To enhance its natural darkening process, we recommend a mineral oil treatment which will also ensure your soapstone darkens evenly.

While soapstone is limited in color from white to charcoal, if it fits your design scheme and budget, this high-quality countertop is worth the investment for its hardworking performance.

Soapstone Countertop Care

Soapstone countertops can be cleaned by just wiping with soap and water or with any common household cleaner.

Exotic & Natural Stones Louisville KY

Because of their extraordinary resistance and durability, natural stone materials have been used throughout history in architecture, construction, and design. In general, these slabs resist high temperatures making them especially suitable for kitchen countertops. Furthermore, their beauty and exclusivity are created by nature, making each one a unique and timeless piece.

Throughout our history, StoneMark has worked with many different natural stones, including agate slabs, limestone, onyx, and travertine. Created by nature, each offers uniquely distinctive designs so no two slabs are exactly alike. They are fire and heat resistant, color stable, and of superior quality.

StoneMark did a BEAUTIFUL job with my counters. Tammy took me through the process and was helpful, welcoming, and accommodating – she made me feel at ease with such a large decision. They had a wide-ranging selection and I dared to go with something far more unique than originally intended… I’m so glad I did, because my kitchen is STUNNING and the counters are a statement piece. The install was prompt and the entire process professional. Highly recommend.

Mollie called us to set up our template visit and possible install date. She was very helpful answering all our questions. Sam came first to measure for our granite. Very nice Knowledgeable about all my questions. We actually visited their site to look at the granite we chose. Meghan helped us there. She talked to us about the choices we had picked and took us out to see the granite. Was a fun thing to do. She was helpful with helping us understand our options. Very nice. Then Jeremy and Paul came to install our granite. Again, both were very nice. Took care of everything. Patient with my questions. Patient with me watching everything even though I tried to stay out of the kitchen. It was too interesting not to observe. . I appreciate the way they both were. Thank you StoneMark for employing and training people who want to help!
